It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of long-standing Lee Bees member, Charles Galea.

Charlie was a member of Lee Bees for more than 35 years and was a familiar face at the airfield for generations of club members. Born in Malta, he remained proud of his roots and enjoyed visiting family there whenever he could.

Many members will remember Charlie for his infectious sense of humour, quick wit, and love of friendly banter. He was always ready with a joke or a laugh, yet equally ready to offer support, encouragement, and friendship to fellow flyers. His good nature and positive outlook made him a pleasure to be around, both at the flying field and beyond.

Charlie also served as Chairman of Lee Bees during an important period in the club’s history, helping to guide the club as members returned to flying at the airfield. His leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to the club were greatly appreciated by all who knew him.

Perhaps nothing captures Charlie’s character better than the well-known video of Charlie and the Bixler on our website. His memorable closing words, “Did you get the landing?”, perfectly reflect the humour and light-hearted spirit that so many of us will remember.

Above all, Charlie was a devoted family man. The love he had for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was evident to all who knew him, and he was deeply loved in return.

Charlie will be greatly missed by everyone at Lee Bees. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Blue skies, Charlie.

You will not be forgotten.
